UPDATE at 8:30 am – One person has been arrested and a handgun was seized following an overnight incident in the Sharbot Lake area. Members of Frontenac OPP responded to a residence shortly before midnight on Monday, January 26th. A male had fled before officers arrived, and it was learned the individual was armed with a handgun. A shelter-in-place was put into effect for the area until the male was located at several hours later at another residence and was safely taken into custody. A handgun was seized.
A 35-year-old man has been charged with:
•Pointing a firearm
•Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
•Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
•Carrying a concealed weapon
•Using a firearm while committing an offence
•Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
•Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
•Tampering with the serial number of a firearm
•Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing later today. The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

A shelter-in-place advisory was issued by Frontenac OPP at 2:19 am regarding a potentially armed individual at a location on Wagner Road.
The advisory was lifted shortly after 4 am after a male suspect was taken into custody. OPP say there is no further threat to public safety.

SHELTER-IN-PLACE: #FrontenacOPP is requesting members of the public in the vicinity of Wagner Road in #SharbotLake to shelter-in-place. Police are actively investigating an incident involving a potentially armed indiviudal. As a precaution, if you are in this area, please remain indoors with doors and windows locked. If you are outdoors, please seek shelter in a secure location. Others should avoid the area until further notice. A heavy police presence can be expected.
