Schools in most parts of Quinte are closed on Monday

The heavy snowfall is causing a rare safety precaution for local school boards, with most local closed today (Monday).

HPEDSB NOTICE – All schools with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board in Belleville, Prince Edward County and Quinte West are closed to students and staff today, January 26, 2026, due to the high snow accumulation and poor driving conditions. Students and staff should not go to school.

NOTE – Schools in Centre and North Hastings are still open today, though North Hastings High School is closed today because of heating issues.

Secondary schools will post messages about changes to exam/final culminating activity schedules.

The school closures also affect before- and after-school childcare programs hosted in schools.

NOTICE – ALL ALCDSB (Algonquin, Lakeshore Catholic District School Board) SCHOOLS AND SITES are closed today (Monday) due to inclement weather.  Students CANNOT be dropped off at school today.
As always, the safety of our students, staff, and families is a priority.
All schools in Northumberland are also closed on Monday.
NOTICE FROM SUNDAY NIGHT – As a result of the winter storm, significant snowfall forecasted to continue throughout the evening, and associated snow clearing in communities, all KPR schools, are CLOSED for Monday, January 26, 2026.
ATTENTION: All PVNC Catholic Schools and Buildings Closed Monday, January 26, 2026 due to the Winter Storm.
Mohawk Bus Lines have cancelled their buses and Quinte Mohawk School is closed.
Ecoles Cite Jeunesse and Marc Garneau (at CFB Trenton) are both also closed today.
