A fiery motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Port Hope early Thursday morning is under investigation.

Members of the Northumberland OPP, along with local fire crews and paramedics arrived at the scene on the westbound 401 between Morrish Church Road and East Townline Road around 2 a.m. for the crash involving a tractor trailer and two passenger vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the vehicles was destroyed by fire, but all occupants had safely exited beforehand.

The west lanes of the 401 were closed while fire personnel extinguished the blaze and road cleanup was completed, before being reopened around 3:45 a.m.
