Toronto man charged with impaired in Bancroft

Members of the Bancroft OPP have charged a Toronto resident with impaired driving.

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, just before 3:30 a.m., Bancroft OPP officers received a traffic complaint from a member of the public. A short time later officers located the vehicle. An approved screening device was used, as a result the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Thomas Westenbrink, 22, has been charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on February 3, 2026.
