Tuesday could be a very challenging day for motorists on roads north of the 401 in the Quinte Region.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the area.
Snowfall amounts of 4 to 8 cm are possible starting in the morning hours.
There is also the risk of freezing rain or freezing drizzle before it changes over to rain later in the day (likely early afternoon).
In areas further to the north (like Bancroft), the snowfall amount could be higher (10 cm) and the risk of freezing rain will linger into the late afternoon and early evening as the projected high is not expected to rise above minus 1.
Travel will likely be challenging at times. Roads and walkways may become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect. There may be an impact on rush hour traffic. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Allow extra time for travel.
