District 12 of Grain Farmers of Ontario, representing grain farmers in Durham, Northumberland, Kawartha, Peterborough, Hastings, has chosen to support the purchase of a new portable X-ray machine for Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) through the Grain Farmers of Ontario Community Investment Program (CIP).
This week, they presented a donation of $20,000.
The CIP is designed to fund initiatives that address the unique needs of rural communities across Ontario. By strengthening social ties and enhancing community spirit, this program—an initiative of the Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Fund—ensures lasting impact across the province.

“Campbellford Memorial Hospital is a vital and integral part of our community in District 12,” says Kristen Carberry, Chair District 12, Grain Farmers of Ontario. The new portable X-ray will provide real-time, high-resolution imaging, enhancing patient comfort, care, and the efficiency of the healthcare system.
The Portable X-Ray is a critical tool for imaging bedridden patients and produces high-quality digital images that allow for faster treatment decisions and streamlined workflow. The portable technology allows staff to bring X-ray services directly to the bedside, ensuring efficient and effective care.
Currently, CMH does not have a radiologist on site, with images forwarded to Peterborough for review. The portable unit will also ensure continuity of service when the stationary X-ray machine is down for maintenance, offering a safe and reliable alternative.
As a 38-bed rural community hospital, CMH serves patients from Peterborough, Northumberland, and Hastings Counties, as well as seven municipalities—providing care to over 40,000 patients each year.
