Once again this year, it won’t just be Rudolph using a bright red nose to guide people safely home around the holidays.
This week, they held the official launch event for this year’s edition of Operation Red Nose.
The campaign that gets you and your vehicle home safely following a night of festive cheer will once again be co-chaired by Patricia Guernsey of Guernsey Team Real Estate and former Belleville Police Chief, Mike Callaghan.
The first night for Red Nose this year is November 28th, with a total of nine nights on local roads keeping people safe and raising money for YMCA camp programs.
I cannot say enough good things about Red Nose or the people behind it.
The dedicated volunteers, who go out in teams of three, are performing an incredible and badly-needed service. Anything that gets even potentially impaired drivers off the road at one of the busiest times of the year for late-night travel is both vital and indispensable.
Many times, I have heard about the fun times had by the volunteers and the friendships formed along the way.
So thank you to the organizers, our amazing co-chairs and the volunteers (you can still sign up) who make our roadways a little safer through Red Nose.
I would much rather do a story on this amazing campaign, than the heart-wrenching stories that could happen if it didn’t run this year.
