Elijah Brahaney was the overtime hero as the Tweed Oil Kings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the host County Royals in a Northern Premier Sr. A Hockey League contest last weekend in Wellington.
KINGS 3, ROYALS 2
Brahaney’s O.T. winner, unassisted, came after the hometown Royals had tied the tilt on a third-period goal by Malcolm Hurd to send the game into extra time. Jack Dow had both earlier Tweed tallies while Hurd scored both County markers.
Royals outshot Tweed, 37-36, with Oil Kings netminder Matt Loveys posting the W. Steve Tierney took the loss in goal for PEC.
Tweed climbs back to .500 at 3-and-3 while the Royals are 1-4-1.

RIDEAUS 5, BULLDOGS 2
At Smiths Falls, the visiting Deseronto Bulldogs held a brief 2-1 lead before the hometown Rideaus scored four unanswered goals for the victory. Dorian Overland and Jacob Panetta counted the Deseronto goals. Bulldogs were outshot, 47-31, with Corey Kuypers suffering the loss in the Deseronto cage.
Bulldogs are now 2-3-1 on the season.
