Hastings County experienced a slight dip in homelessness in the second quarter of this year.
A report card by Built for Zero Canada received by the County’s Community and Human Services Committee showed 275 people in Hastings County were homeless from the months of April to June.
That includes 164 who are experiencing ‘chronic homelessness’ with a 5.8-per cent percent total homelessness decrease being reported.
38 people also successfully moved into housing in the second quarter.
Built for Zero Canada is an ambitious national change effort to end homelessness and chronic homelessness across Canada and Hastings County is a committed partner.
Chronic Homelessness is defined as homeless for at least six months in the last 12 months, or at least 18 months in the last 36 months.
The County is aiming to share this information to promote transparency and accountability in the community’s homelessness response.
