Emergency responders from across the Quinte Region gathered on Thursday morning to remember those who made the ultiimate sacrifice on September 11th, 2001.
Belleville Fire and Emergency Services held a memorial service at Station #1.
On that day, 24 years ago, 343 firefighters selflessly lost their lives in the fight to save others. As we reflect on the sacrifices made that day, we would like to recognize all first responders who put their lives on the line every day to keep our community safe.
The ceremony was held in front of the Firefighters’ Memorial Monument at Fire Station #1, which has a piece of the World Trade Towers and contains the names of former Belleville Fire & Emergency Services members who lost their lives in the line of duty.
This morning at Fire Station 1, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services held a moment of silence in remembrance of the lives lost during the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony honoured the bravery and sacrifice of our American counterparts, 24 years after the attacks.
In Prince Edward County, Firefighters gathered at Shire Hall where a ceremony was held at the beginning of the Committee of the Whole meeting. It included a moment of silence on behalf of the lives that were lost on 9/11.
