Fraud stopped while in progress in Trent Hills

A person from Scarborough was stopped from attempting to commit fraud at a financial institution in Trent Hills last Friday.

Northumberland OPP stated it was notified that a person was attempting to open an account on Front Street West.

Officers who arrived on scene were told that a representative believed the individual was using fraudulent details to verify their identity.

44-year-old Christopher Baksh was arrested and charged as part of an OPP investigation with obustrcting a peace officer, using, dealing or acting on a forged document, possession of a forged document with intent and possession of an identity document purporting to another.

The individual was held for bail to appear in Cobourg Court.
