Another stellar defensive effort and some timely goals improved the Napanee Raiders to 4-0 on the PJHL season with a 3-1 victory over the Frankford Huskies on Saturday night.

Denholm Blair made 18 saves and the Raiders penalty kill went a perfect eight for eight, punctuating the effort with a shorthanded goal from Trent Williams on a partial breakaway off an interception at the Frankford blueline.

That insurance marker followed a Ryan McGee powerplay goal which broke a one-all tie just under a minute into the third, proving to be the game-winner.

Jackson Barnes launched a powerplay goal past Frankford goalie Liam Boyer and Ty McCambridge buried his second of the season past Blair in the final minute of the first to even the score.

Tanner Hawkins posted two assists for Napanee with Andrew Carr adding one.

Carter Wright and Jack Kuipers contributed the helpers for Frankford and Boyer made 32 saves.

Frankford falls to 1-1 on the season with the defeat.

The Huskies fellow Quinte West junior hockey team, the Trenton Golden Hawks, are in action at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, while in the PJHL, the Picton Pirates visit Trent Hills Thunder at 4:30 p.m.
