Hawks secure sixth straight win with rout of Royals

The Trenton Golden Hawks are in a groove, winning their sixth game in a row 7-2 over the Markham Royals on Sunday afternoon.

Trenton broke out after a scoreless first period with three unanswered goals in the second and five straight overall by the seven-minute mark of the third.

Joey Brehmer scored twice for Trenton, with Jaxon Pierce potting his first of the season for the Hawks.

Also scoring was Kale Mace (2nd of the season), Isaiah Shantz (5th), Jamie Darlison (4th), and Taeo Artichuk (6th).

Brehmer finished with four points, with Artichuk posting three and Shantz, Matt Indovina and Jack Ziliotto adding two each.

Hayden Jeffery won his second straight start and fourth of the year with 23 saves.

The Hawks welcome the St. Michael’s Buzzers to the ‘Hangar’ on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
