Shoplifting charge laid in Belleville

Belleville Police have made an arrest in a shoplifting case.

On October 27th at 4:02pm, Belleville Police responded to a business in the city’s east end regarding a report of shoplifting. It was reported that a female had left the store with a cart full of groceries without paying.

Upon arrival, officers located a suspect outside the business and observed her with the cart of groceries. Officers reviewed video footage and observed that the woman was seen in the store alone and exited through the entrance without making payment.

As a result of investigation, 42-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:

· Theft under $5000 – shoplifting

· Fail to comply with probation order

She was held for a bail hearing.
