Integrity Commisioner documents into trustee complaints not being released

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 23, 2025 | 9:58 AM

An Integrity Commisioner’s report in regards to a local public school board trustee will not be released.

At the August 25 Regular Public Board Meeting, Trustee Ernie Parsons had made a motion to have Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board release documents relating to a second code of conduct complaint against North Prince Edward Trustee Rachael Prinzen.

The complaints were levied against Prinzen based around breaching a code of conduct and failing to keep confidential information disclosed at a closed board or committee meeting.

One complaint came late last year and the other earlier this spring and both of those complaints were appealed by Prinzen at a divisional court.

The board stated that the documents are part of a court process and cannot be released.

After being told his motion was out of order, Trustee Parsons stated he felt the board was prone to secrecy and not being as accountable as they should.

The board concluded in its initial investigation last November that Prinzen failed to keep her comments issue-based and not personal and to avoid making demeaning or disparaging comments respecting board staff or fellow board members.

Enrollment up at HPEDSB

In other business from Monday’s school board meeting, trustees around the table heard about an enrolment increase at local public schools.

Data indicates a 70 student increase in enrolment as of Monday, 10,552 elementary students and 4,725 seccondary students for a total of 15,277.

The board says adjustments will be made at 14 elementary schools to align with Ministry of Education class requirements.

Changes at secondary schools are still being reviewed.
