$25,000 from the Asset Manage Reserve Fund will transferred to support the Dundas Street E Stormwater Oil Grit Separator (OGS) Addition.
The decision came this afternoon at Belleville City Council.
The Ministry of Environment is requiring the City to install an oil/grit separator (OGS) on this storm main. Currently, this main discharges directly without any treatment to the Belleville Marsh which is a sensitive waterbody and is also a Provincially Significant Wetland. The Ministry is scrutinizing this main because of a recent spill on a neighbouring private property.
They are insisting that this work be done as quickly as possible, and was brought forward in the 2025 Capital budget.
With the expected project management, construction, and inspection expenses totaling $152,119.07.00 (Net Cost to City), transferring $25,000.00 from the Asset Management Reserve Fund to the Capital Budget Issue # 25-1.070 will result in $160,000.00 being available for project completion.
Council approved moving $25,000 from the Asset Management Reserve Fund to Capital Budget Issue 25-1.070. The tender from Advance Excavating & General Contracting Ltd. for Request to Tender ES-2025-11 T-20-25 was also accepted at a total cost of $168,921.53 (including HST), as it was the lowest bid received.
