A proposed Friendship City Agreement with Krasyliv Territorial Community, Ukraine and Prince Edward County has been approved.

The decision came this evening at Prince Edward County’s regular Council meeting at Shire Hall.

Staff will also be directed to include $5,000 in the proposed 2026 municipal operating budget to support the activities of the Krasyliv Friendship City program.

The goal of the friendship agreement is to foster mutual understanding and plan joint efforts in the areas of arts, culture, education, sports, youth services, tourism, environment, public health, and business development. The groups will explore projects and activities of benefit to each community and be responsible to obtain support of their municipal government, residents and/or community organizations as necessary.

In a recorded vote, Council approved the Friendship City Agreement with a vote of 10-2.

Prince Edward County Council meets again on Oct 7 for 7pm at Shire Hall.
