The City of Belleville and its fire department is reflecting on the memory of a person who saved lives and also enriched many others with decades of public service in the Friendly City.
The flag at City Hall has been lowered to half-mast to honour the passing of retired Belleville firefighter and community volunteer Ralph Boomhower.
He passed away last month at the age of 86.
Boomhower served the community for many years as a firefighter and was the president of the annual Firefighter Toy Drive for 50 years.
He also dedicated his time as a member of the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee and president of the WARF Street Debating Club and also volunteered for the Belleville Firefighter’s Toy Drive every Christmas.
The city expresses condolences to Boomhower’s loved ones and former colleagues.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Michaels Catholic Church at 10:00am on Saturday November 7th.
In lieu of flowers, they are asking people to make a donation to the Belleville Toy Drive in Ralph’s memory.
