A commitment to meaningful action on inclusiveness and equity is the goal behind a workshop event in the Quinte region this Thursday.
That day, the Quinte Local Immigration Partnership will bring community leaders and decision-makers together for its fourth Braver Conversations event since 2024: Brave Conversations: Allyship in Action.
This full-day workshop represents the next step in QLIP’s ongoing Braver Conversations series, which has provided opportunities for community organizations and stakeholders across the Quinte region to explore belonging, identity, unconscious bias, racism, systemic racism and inclusion.
The Allyship workshop will explore systemic barriers, power structures, privilege and the role individuals and organizations can play in creating meaningful change.
Participants will have an opportunity to examine what it means to be an active ally, consider how power and privilege influence everyday experiences, and explore practical approaches to addressing racism within their community, workplaces and everyday lives.
Facilitated by experienced local equity, inclusion and anti-racism consultants Carrie Oswald of Belonging Redefined and Gabrielle Wint-Rose of EAW Publications, the workshop will focus on translating awareness into tangible action and helping participants identify ways to carry their learning forward.
Funding is generously provided by the City of Belleville to support this initiative. The workshop is offered free of charge to leaders in community agencies and organizations in the Quinte region, with lunch provided.
Registration for the November 5 workshop is now closed. Please contact QLIP at lip@quinteimmigration.ca for further details.
The Quinte Local Immigration Partnership is a federally funded initiative led by Quinte Immigration Services that brings together community organizations, institutions, businesses and other stakeholders to strengthen the region’s capacity to welcome, integrate and support newcomers.
