The pilots who fly the Snowbirds are getting ready to say goodbye to the iconic aircraft.
The aerial aerobatics team is set to perform its final air show Friday in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, before the team’s decades-old Tutor jets head into retirement.
National reports are indicating the 60-plus-year old jets will be heading to 8 Wing CFB Trenton for disposal following a final flight early next year.
Defence Minister David McGuinty had announced earlier this year that the old Tutors will be replaced eventually by the Swiss-made PC-21 Pilatus aircraft, known as the CT-157 Siskin II.
The Snowbirds are also scheduled to perform a final flyover at the C-F-L’s Grey Cup game in Calgary, November 15.
The livestream of the final airshow will be available at 2 p.m. on the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Facebook page.
8 Wing CFB Trenton representatives have not yet responded to a request for confirmation on disposal plans.
