The Bancroft Hybrid Warming Centre will operate again under the umbrella of Hastings County this upcoming winter.
The facility serves individuals who are known to the Coordinated Access System and are all experiencing chronic homelessness.
A report from Community and Human Services director Jamie-Lynne Osmond while there was some local interest in taking over operation of the centre, no formal applications were received
from local organizations.
Only one application was received through the Expression of Interest process. This application was from Integrity Investigative Solutions Ltd., the security company currently providing operations at the Centre, which means, operations will continue under the current service model at this time.
Grace Inn Shelter in Belleville had expressed interest in continuing its partnership with Integrity Investigative Solutions before withdrawing in May due to staffing challenges.
Osmond added work is underway with partner agencies to explore a Housing First program opportunity in North Hastings, with the goal of supporting the individuals who access the
warming centre to secure and maintain long-term housing.
The programming is in the development phase and will include both a rent supplement and wrap-around case management.
A future report will be brought to this Committee with details on the Housing First program.
