A Belleville woman has been arrested on fraud and theft charges.
On September 13, 2026, Belleville Police responded to a business on North Front Street regarding a fraud investigation. It was reported that a wallet had been stolen from a vehicle overnight and that a credit card belonging to the victim had subsequently been used at the business. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified a female suspect.
On September 16, 2026, at 4:11 a.m., Belleville Police responded to the city’s east end after receiving reports of an individual going through parked vehicles and stealing items.
Officers located and identified the suspect, who was determined to be the same individual being sought in connection with the earlier fraud investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Stephanie McKenna, 35-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
· Use of credit card
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Trespassing at night
· Theft under $5000
· Fail to comply with probation order
She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in December.
