Three people have been charged in Markham in connection with an extortion investigation in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
On September 10, 2026, members of the Tyendinaga Police Service Criminal Investigations Unit concluded a 10-month-long extortion investigation that was initially reported to police in November 2025.
As a result of the investigation, members of the Tyendinaga Police Service, assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigations Bureau, Regional Support Team and Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in Markham, Ontario.
Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation, with one individual pending charges:
Shawn Gendron, 42, of Markham — Extortion, Uttering Threats and Harassing Communications
Denash Raveendran, 32, of Markham — Extortion, Uttering Threats and Harassing Communications
Dilankumar Raveendran, 32, of Markham — Extortion, Uttering Threats and Harassing Communications — (Wanted by Police)
The two arrested individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 3, 2026.
As this matter is before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.
