One person has been charged in connection with a collision involving an ambulance and a transport truck at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 in Madoc from earlier this year.
On Monday, February 2, 2026, shortly after 3:00 p.m., members of the Central Hastings OPP responded to a two‑vehicle collision that resulted in two paramedics being taken to a local hospital. Both were later airlifted to a Kingston area trauma centre by ORNGE due to life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation on Monday, Sajeevarnan Balasubramaniam, 34, of Milton, was charged with two counts each of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and careless driving causing bodily harm.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Belleville Court October 1.
