The County Foundation has announced the establishment of a bursary fund in memory of a local community member.
The Natalie Piper Fine & Digital Arts Bursary is an annual award of $2,000 to support a resident in Prince Edward County (aged 18-30) pursuing post-secondary education or enhancement study in the broad Fine & Digital Arts sector.
This includes but is not limited to:
· Traditional Fine Arts: Painting, drawing, illustration, print-making, sculpture, mixed media, collage, installation, etc.
· Modern Fine Arts: photography, film, studio pottery and glass, book-binding, and poetry.
· Performing Fine Arts: theatre, music and dance.
· Digital Arts: graphic design, illustration, video, and digital art.
This bursary is meant to honour Natalie Piper Fine and her creative legacy, while providing ongoing support to worthy students.
Born with a congenital heart condition that required major surgeries throughout her life, Natalie refused to let her illness limit her.
Natalie was an active part of the local creative community, by creating logos, designs, and layouts for local organizations and businesses such as the Picton Library, Jazzfest, Art in the County, the Chamber Music Festival, the Picton Gazette, and many more.
County Foundation officials say close to $10,000 has been raised at this point to support Natalie’s bursary fund, and $40,000 is the fundraising goal to establish the fund as a long-term endowment.
Donations to Natalie’s Bursary can be made online through CanadaHelps by selecting the fund from the drop-down menu, or by mailing a cheque to The County Foundation with “Natalie Piper Fine & Digital Arts Bursary” in the memo. Mailing address is 100 Picton Main Street, Picton, ON K0K 2T0.
