The City of Belleville will begin work to replace the Northeast Industrial Park gateway sign at the intersection of Cannifton Road and Adam Street/Bell Boulevard beginning Sept. 14.
The existing gateway sign has reached the end of its life and will be replaced with a new, modern sign that improves visibility and durability while better reflecting City branding and the Northeast Industrial Park as a key employment and investment area.
Work is scheduled from Sept. 14 through Sept. 25 and will include the removal of the existing sign and installation of the new gateway sign. Minor traffic disruptions will be required to complete the work safely, including temporary lane closures in the area of the intersection.
Motorists should expect delays while work is underway and are encouraged to allow extra time when travelling through the area and follow all posted signage and traffic-control measures. As this is a busy intersection located near schools, drivers are asked to use extra caution and watch for pedestrians, especially during school arrival and dismissal times.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction, with temporary sidewalk rerouting in place as needed. Signage and pedestrian accommodations will be provided to safely guide pedestrians around the work area.
Work is anticipated to be completed by Sept. 25, weather and conditions permitting.
