A Belleville restaurant is being recognized for its outstanding service to the community and to its home roots.
Chilangos Mexican Restaurant representatives received the Sello M award from Christian Clay, Deputy Consul General of Mexico in Toronto, and Viridiana Sánchez, Consul for Community Affairs, Press and Media Relations, in the presence of local dignitaries, special guests and community members on Friday.
This special recognition recognizes restaurants around the world that preserve and promote the authenticity, traditions, and cultural heritage of Mexican cuisine.
“For us, this is more than an award. It represents years of hard work, dedication, and a dream that began with sharing a little piece of Mexico with our community here in Belleville,” Chilangos stated.
“From our Mexican roots to our Canadian home, we couldn’t be prouder to continue sharing the flavours and traditions of Mexico.”
The restaurant opened in 2016 in downtown Belleville through the guidance of Abraham Ramos and Marlem Power before expanding to the larger space at 365 North Front St. previously occupied by the Red Rock Canyon in 2022 following a devastating windstorm that took the roof off the downtown establishment.
