Golden Hawks hook Muskies
The Trenton Golden Hawks did a bang-up job in their preseason weekend set with the Lindsay Muskies.
The Hawks scored five times in the first en route to a 6-1 victory at the ‘Fish Pond’ in Lindsay on Friday, then turned around and put away a 5-2 win over the Muskies at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens on Sunday evening.
Returning forward Mason Musclow led the way in points with five over the two contests, while Owen Rivers scored twice with three points on Friday.
Jackson Bathgate scored in each of the two games, with fellow newcomers Ethan Jackman, Cameron Shaw, Ethan Brassard and Ashton Fraser and returnee Wyatt Gregory all scoring once.
Nolan Nicoll (23 saves Friday) and Hayden Jeffery (30 saves on Sunday) earned victories in net.
The regular season will require a bit of a wait for the Hawks, when they return to Lindsay at 7 p.m. September 11.
Trenton’s home opener goes September 18 versus the Stouffville Spirit at 7:30 p.m.
Huskies own home ice, triumph in pre-season tournament
Coming off a Tod Division title and their longest playoff run in franchise history in 2025-26, the Frankford Huskies once again proved why they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Fans got an early peek at the Huskies and Picton Pirates in a pre-season tournament, won by Frankford with a 4-0 record.
The Huskies outscored their opponents 26-2 over those four games, with victories of 6-1 on Friday over Picton, 6-1 over the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Athens Aeros and 5-0 over the Amherstview Jets on Saturday and 9-0 over the Aeros on Sunday.
The Huskies begin their 2026-27 campaign on home ice at Frankford Arena versus the Picton Pirates Saturday, September 12 at 7 p.m.
Napanee Raiders split preseason pair
The PJHL preseason started for the Napanee Raiders with a pair of games on Friday and Saturday.
The Raiders defended home ice on Friday night at Best and Bash Arena with a 4-1 victory over the Trent Hills Thunder.
Ben Kerr, Ryan Aldridge, Brayden Thompson and Keagan York all scored for Napanee and Denholm Blair made 15 saves in the win.
The next night in Courtice, the Raiders dropped a 5-2 decision in an inter-division matchup with the Clarington Eagles.
Brody Nielissen scored both Napanee goals and Jacob Brown made 26 saves.
The Raiders and Picton Pirates meet in a home-and-home set to wrap up the preseason Thursday at 8 in Picton and Friday at 7:30 back in Napanee.
Napanee begins its season Friday, September 11 at home versus the Lakefield Chiefs.
Belleville’s Laurin signs in Nation’s Capital
The Nation’s Capital’s Ontario Hockey League team is welcoming a Quinte Red Devils alumnus for the 2026-27 season.
Belleville forward Andrew Laurin signed a contract by the Ottawa 67s this past week after being made a first round draft pick by them in the OHL Priority Selection draft in June.
The 16-year-old posted 51 points in 34 regular season games last season, adding another 12 in the playoffs.
Laurin follows fellow forward Lauchlan Whelan (Windsor Spitfires) to become the second Red Devil U16 graduate to sign with an OHL team this summer.
