Belleville residents can take advantage of a new playground in the city starting this Friday.

The city encourages membersĀ of the public to join council members and staff for the grand opening of the new Elgin Parkette playground.

The playground will be at the southwest corner of Sidney Street and Moira Street West.

In addition to the official opening of the new playground, there will be a number of free activities and giveaways taking place throughout the event including face painting, balloon creations and free food truck tickets for the first 100 patrons (courtesy of Park N Play Design).

Parking at Elgin Parkette is available off of Elgin Street.

The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.
