An investigation continues into a commercial vehicle rollover early Monday evening.
Before 6 p.m., a report came in about the crash at the intersection of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Hamilton Road, which involved a truck travelling east on Hamilton reportedly avoiding a passenger vehicle travelling south.
This evasive action reportedly caused the truck and attached trailer to roll onto their side.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The vehicle was transporting water; however, diesel fuel leaked from the truck’s fuel tanks, requiring environmental remediation. Officials from the Ministry of the Environment attended the scene to oversee cleanup operations.
The roadway remained closed until approximately 2:00 a.m. to allow emergency crews and cleanup personnel to safely clear the scene and ensure the area was safe for reopening.
Members of the Belleville Police Service, Belleville Fire, and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services attended the scene.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage of the incident is asked to contact Constable Tinsley at stinsley@bellevilleps.ca
