Local athletes highlighting success for Loyalist College

There has been lots of success for local athletes at Loyalist College in recent days and weeks.

The Cross Country team is headed to Marydale Park in Mount Hope, ON to take part in the OCAA Provincial Championships, hosted by Mohawk College.

The team consists of seven runners including three local athletes, Cassandra Brennan (Wellington) Robert Leybourne (Marmora) and Bianca Rainville (Belleville).

The women’s race takes place at 11 AM and the men start at 12 noon Saturday.

The women’s rugby team is also competing in OCAA Championships this weekend but are in Kitchener with hosts Conestoga College

The team finished in an impressive 4th place in the league and take on 5th place Seneca Sting in quarter finals at 9:30 AM Saturday.

Three local athletes earned league recognition in the OCAA Women’s Rugby 7s awards announced on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Holly Mcmaster (Belleville, ON) a second year paramedic student was named OCAA League All-Star
Faith Ayres (Belleville, ON), second year Fitness & Health Promotion student was also named an OCAA League All-Star
Rowynn Cochrane (Stirling, ON), first year Nursing student was named to the OCAA All-Rookie team.
