A nasty family dispute resulted in several charges for a 29-year-old Belleville man.
It was reported that a fight had broken out between a man and his mother in the city’s west end on Teusday night and the man had fled the residence before police arrival.
The female victim reported that a verbal altercation had escalated, during which she was thrown to the floor, choked, and punched.
Officers also observed broken glass, damaged plant pots, and a smashed television inside the residence.
A male reportedly attempted to resist arrest, but was eventually charged with;
· Assault
· Overcome resistance – choking
· Mischief under $5000
· Uttering threats X2
· Resisting a peace officer
He was held for a bail hearing.
Breach of Probation
Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Belleville Police on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the city’s east end after an Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) hit showed an expired plate attached to a vehicle.
During the traffic stop, officers spoke with the male driver and the male passenger.
Through investigation, officers learned that the driver was in breach of his probation order by being in communication with the passenger. Officers also observed open containers of alcohol in the front seat of the vehicle.
As a result, a 22-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
· Failure to comply with probation order
· Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol
· Driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit
He was held for a bail hearing.
