Local spring/summer sports season in full swing

The local spring and summer sports season is in full swing in the Bay of Quinte.

This past Saturday, the Quinte Skyhawks celebrated the start of the Ontario Spring Football League season with a sweep of their slate of games at Mary Ann Sills Park.

The U12 Skyhawks outmuscled the North Toronto Sentinels 30-12, before the U14, U16 and U18 squads swept away the Oshawa Hawkeyes.

The U14s blitzed Oshawa 50-0, the U16 team won 45-6 and the U18 group took a 44-27 decision.

SOUTH HASTINGS BASEBALL

The 93rd season of the South Hastings Baseball League opened with a shutout on Tuesday.

Ty Green picked up the win as the Rhino Lining Rockies defeated defending champion Uens Pole Line 5-0 in a rematch of last year’s final won by Uens.

Four more teams made their season debuts on Thursday in a doubleheader

Read McGuinness Water Solutions Young Guns defeated the Melrose Farrell Excavating Shamrocks 11-9, led by a three-double game from Keaton Sararas.
In the late game, the Tyendinaga Cardinals defeated the Parkhurst Tripps Pirates 5-1.
Jordan McMullen hurled four innings, and racked up seven strikeouts to get the win.

BELLEVILLE WOMEN’S FASTBALL LEAGUE

An exciting doubleheader kicked off the 2026 Belleville Women’s Fastball League season on Wednesday.
In the first game, SieSloan Contracting defeated Quinte Home Installations 11-8.
Big hitters for SieSloan Contracting were Shannon Williams with a homerun and a triple and Celine Broadbent with a double.
For Quinte Home Installations, Erica Booth hit a double and Sarah Brenton made her pitching debut and hit a triple for the team.
In the late game, Napanee Express U17 defeated EMS-Tech 11-3.
Peyton Brooks had 2 homeruns while Savannah Parks, Aliyah Beleza and Shyanne Whan each hit a double. Shayla Huyck knocked a triple.
