UPDATE: Loyalist Parkway in Prince Edward County reopened, male deceased

Loyalist Parkway in Wellington has reopened following a closure that lasted a couple of hours.

Loyalist Parkway was closed in both directions from Conley Rd to Belleville St for a single vehicle collision in Wellington in Prince Edward County.

The OPP have since stated that a driver has been located deceased following a single vehicle collision on the Loyalist Parkway (Highway 33) in Prince Edward County.

Officers with the Prince Edward OPP and other first responders were called to the scene near Wellington around 8:15am on Monday, Oct 13.

An eastbound pick-up truck had left the roadway and struck some trees. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was able to get out of the truck and was located nearby. He was rushed to a local hospital with no vital signs and was pronounced deceased.

The individual has been identified as a 69-year-old man from Quinte West.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with assistance from the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.
