A commercial vehicle safety blitz resulted in two vehicles being pulled off the road over the weekend in Kaladar.
Two OPP officers from Lennox and Addinton OPP and a Quinte West Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team member conducted a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspection blitz focused on roadway safety and compliance Saturday on Highway 7 in Kaladar.
Results from the initiative included:
• 8 Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) tests conducted
• 1 driver received a 3-day suspension as alcohol was detected at 0.41% BAC. (Commercial drivers must have a 0.00% BAC)
• 7 Level I CVSA inspections
• 1 Level II CVSA inspection
• 2 commercial vehicles were placed out of service
• 2 provincial offence charges laid and 3 warnings issued
One of the commercial vehicles had alcohol and cannabis readily available inside the cab and was charged accordingly. These proactive inspections help ensure commercial vehicles operating on our highways meet safety standards, protecting both drivers and the public. Enforcement and education remain key to preventing collisions and keeping Ontario’s roads safe.
