Local artist to be celebrated by Belleville Council Monday

Belleville Council gets ready to welcome and celebrate a landmark achievement from a Belleville resident on Monday

A deputation from Janet Jarrell of Quinte Arts Council will center around local artist Carl Wiens, who recently designed the new Canadian Toonie celebrating the CN Tower’s 50th anniversary.

Wiens has produced internationally recognized works over a 30-year career of collaging, screen printing, painting, pattern, and woodworking.

Also as part of the agenda, council is set to appoint five members to a Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan Governance Advisory Committee.

Council meets at City Hall at 4 p.m. Monday.
