By Brock Ormond Apr 23, 2026 | 3:29 PM

The body of one person has been recovered by the OPP dive team from Lake Ontario following a crash on Tuesday night.

The Special Investigations Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of a Lennox and Addington OPP traffic stop that ended when the vehicle crashed and submerged into the water in Greater Napanee.

Officers had attempted to stop a driver on Bath Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday, but the driver managed to escape.

Shortly after, the vehicle hit the ditch and entered Lake Ontario in the area of Highway 33 and County Road 21.

The individual whose body was recovered from the submerged vehicle has not yet been formally identified.

One investigator, a collision reconstructionist and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case at this time.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
