Low construction value last month compared to March of 2025

By Brock Ormond Apr 21, 2026 | 12:57 PM

Construction value was lower in March of this year in Belleville, despite a slight uptick in building permits last month.

The City of Belleville Building Department issued 34 permits worth $4.4 million in construction activity last month, a small bump compared to March 2025, where there were 30 permits valued at $10.5 million.
The difference was mostly due to a $5.7 million industrial permit issued last year.
Year-to-date construction is down almost 50% with the 2026 value through the end of March sitting at $10.9 million, compared to 2025’s three-month total of $20.9 million.
A full breakdown of year-to-date building activity can be seen below.
