VARAK has announced their student winners for this year’s Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Week.
The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program along with Quinte Mall and Paragon Security is pleased to announce that Natalie Rodenhiser a Grade 12 Student at Ecole secondaire publique Marc-Garneau is this year’s High School Kindness Citizen.
As the High School Kindness Citizen winner Natalie will receive a lap top computer donated by Quinte Mall and Paragon Security as well printer and ink and $100.00 Quinte Mall Gift Card donated by VARAK. In addition, Natalie’s name will appear on the Digital Signs throughout Quinte Mall.
Natalie’s High School states; “there is no denying that Natalie stands out for her civic engagement and her actions are remarkable for a Grade 12 Student. Her commitment to citizenship in her school and with the municipality of Quinte West is impressive. The nomination goes on to say that Natalie is a compassionate leader whose kindness shines through everything she does. She brings people together, listens deeply, and advocates for her peers with sincerity and courage.
Her efforts to protect the French language—launching a petition and engaging formally with the school board—show her genuine care for her community’s cultural well-being.
Through her roles in student government, as a Student Senator, and with the FESFO, which stands for Federation de la jeunesse franco-ontarienne) she consistently uses her leadership to uplift others and create a sense of belonging. Congratulations to Natalie this award is so deserved.
The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Committee is pleased to announce that Landon Peterson a Grade 12 Student at Nicholson Catholic College has won a Bursary valued at $250.00, as well as a Certificate of Appreciation and a $100.00 Quinte Mall Gift Card donated by the VARAK Program.
Landon exemplifies kindness through this genuine care of others and his consistently thoughtful actions. He makes a point to greet people warmly, taking time to check in and ask how they are doing. His observant nature allows him to notice when others need assistance and he eagerly steps forward to help without being asked. He is always willing to help a fellow student or staff member even when he isn’t asked to. What truly sets Landon apart is his ability to share joy and connect meaningfully with those around him. He enthusiastically shares good news and celebrates others successes.
Additionally, Landon demonstrates remarkable thoughtfulness and truly listens and cares. Landon creates a more positive and caring environment for everyone around him. Congratulations Landon on winning the VARAK Bursary. Nicholson is lucky to have you!
The second Bursary winner Leah Abayomi a Grade 12 Student at St. Paul’s Catholic High School who was also presented with a Bursary valued at $250.00, a Certificate of Appreciation and a $100.00 Quinte Mall Gift Card donated by the VARAK Program.
Leah’s High School had this to say about her. Leah is wonderfully kind, thoughtful and considerate to everyone she encounters within her School community. She has a calm, kind and respectful presence which helps other students feel safe and supported. Leah actively participates in the Student Council and the Eco Team within her school and is also a member of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Youth Council. Leah shows a genuine dedication to serving others. Leah’s kindness and compassion for others advances inclusivity. Congratulations Leah you’re kindness shines!
