Hospice Quinte begins expansion of site in Bayside

By Paul Martin Apr 10, 2026 | 9:43 AM

Community leaders gathered on Friday morning to celebrate the start of work on the expansion of a facility that offers compassionate end-of-life care for local residents.

Hospice Quinte held the groundbreaking ceremony for the “More Heart. More Home” expansion at the Stan Klemencic Care Centre in Bayside.

Executive Director Petra Lepage noted that once completed, the expansion to 10 beds will reduce existing wait lists and allow dignified palliative care services for another 200 people and their loved ones within our community each year.

The expansion will also include the first dedicated palliative care suite for veterans in Canada.

Hospice Quinte is deeply grateful to the Klemencic Family for their generous leadership gift, which provided the seed funding that helped launch the More Heart. More Home. expansion project.

In recognition of their meaningful support and the compassion they have shown to hospice care in our community, the new wing will be named in honour of Paula Klemencic.
