Ottawa man faces additional prison time on intimate partner violence charges

An Ottawa man is facing additional prison time on intimate partner violence charges.

Following guilty pleas to these counts, Justice Jeffery Richardson sentenced Ogene Olimi to a six-year jail sentence on charges including, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, uttering death threats, forcible confinement and failing to comply with probation.

After being given credit for 15 months of time spent in pre-trial custody, Olimi was sentenced to a further five years in the penitentiary.

Olimi was also ordered to give a sample of his DNA, was prevented from having weapons for life and was banned from communicating with the victim while in jail.
