Impaired driving charge laid after vehicle strikes pole in Belleville

Belleville Police laid an impaired driving charge after a vehicle struck a pole over the weekend.

On March 14th (Saturday night) at 7:15pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the city’s east end.

It was reported that a vehicle had been observed driving erratically before striking a pole.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and spoke with the male driver.

As a result of police investigation, Riley Howitt, 21-year-old Belleville male, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.
