Power outages on Monday morning around Bancroft

By Paul Martin Mar 16, 2026 | 5:17 AM

It’s a rough start to Monday for hundreds of homes in the Bancroft area.

High winds swept through the area overnight.

More than 500 homes around Bancroft are in the dark as of 6 am on Monday.

Another 500 or so are off the grid just to the west of the community.

Times of restoration vary, with some expected back on the grid this morning (Monday) while others may have to wait until tomorrow.

At least one outage report includes a description that it may not be fixed until conditions are safe for crews to access the area required.

Thousands of people in North Hastings spent one or more days in the dark last week when freezing rain swept through the area.
