Fire at business in Belleville’s east end

By Paul Martin Mar 13, 2026 | 4:58 AM

Belleville Firefighters were out early Friday morning at a fire in the city’s east end.

They responded to a structure fire in a small commercial plaza at 652 Dundas Street East (by Haig Road) shortly before 3 am.

The fire was contained to one unit of the building.

There were no injuries.

There is no word yet on a cause of the fire. The investigation is continuing.

That location is the home of KK’s Sunshine Diner, which posted the following message on Facebook this morning.

It is with a heavy heart that we share that KK’s Sunshine Diner experienced a fire around 3:00 AM this morning at our location at 652 Dundas Street East.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and we are incredibly grateful to the Belleville Fire Department and first responders for their quick action in containing the fire.
At this time, KK’s Sunshine Diner will be closed until further notice while the situation is assessed and investigators determine the cause.
This diner has always been about good food, fair prices, and a place where the community feels at home, and we truly appreciate all the support from our amazing customers, friends, and neighbours.
We will share updates as we learn more.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.
