Lingering problems caused by Wednesday’s freezing rain are shutting down two schools in North Hastings on Thursday.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board issued the following notice early this morning.

NOTICE – Coe Hill and Maynooth schools will be closed today due to power outages.

Students and staff at those schools should not go to school today, Thursday, March 12, 2026.

All other schools will be open. Dozens of bus runs in the area have been cancelled this morning. High winds overnight resulted in downed trees in some areas.
