Members of the Northumberland OPP managed to recover a stolen vehicle from Belleville in Alnwick/Haldimand Township Thursday night.

Around 8 p.m., an officer patrolling County Road 45 in the Municipality of Trent Hills received an alert from the in-car Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system regarding a vehicle travelling southbound and believed to be stolen.

The driver left the roadway, driving into a field behind a residence, and then fled on foot.

The vehicle, a pickup truck, was confirmed stolen from Belleville. As part of an investigation, there was an increased police presence in the area, and the K9 Unit was deployed to assist with the search.

No individuals were located, and the investigation remains ongoing.
