Macaulay Heritage Park Museum to be closed March 11 – 31 for roof replacement

Some roof work will result in the closure of a significant cultural site in Prince Edward County for three weeks starting on Wednesday.

NOTICE – The museum located within the former church building at Macaulay Heritage Park (23 Church Street, Picton) will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 11 for scheduled roofing work. The museum is expected to remain closed until Tuesday, March 31.

  • This work is dependent on weather conditions. If adjustments to the timeline are required, the municipality will inform the public. In addition, follow the County on Facebook and Twitter/X.
  • During this time, Macaulay House at 35 Church Street in Picton will remain open for regular winter hours, Wednesday to Sunday from 1 – 4 pm.
    • On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Macaulay House, the creative minds behind “Gather in the County”, Bear Epp and Bay Woodyard, will be animating the space by creating historic textile art on site.
  • Wellington Heritage Museum (290 Wellington Main Street) will also continue to operate per the regular schedule, Wednesday to Sunday 1 – 4 pm.
    • Come by and see the newly opened “Outliers: Artists Talking to the Archives Exhibit” featuring 10 textile artists and their artistic interpretations of obscure artifacts from The County Museum’s collection.
  • No road closures will take place to support this work.
