The Northumberland OPP is providing an update regarding charges laid as part of an ongoing investigation that began last month involving a reported threat at a local secondary school in Brighton.
On February 12, officers responded to information about a potential threat to school safety.
Police confirmed at that time that the individual associated with the report was not present at the school and that there was no immediate risk to students or staff.
As previously reported, one youth was charged with uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.
Following an investigation, which included a search warrant on March 2, a 38‑year‑old male was arrested and charged with four counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
The accused is due to appear in Cobourg Court in April and their name will not be released to protect the identity of the youth.
The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit.
No additional information will be released at this time.
