A chilly seasonal event has raised tens of thousands of dollars for two very worth local organizations.

The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk was held at communities across the country on Saturday.

The Belleville event was a huge success, raising more than $70,000, far exceeding this target this year of $65,000.

The money raised in Belleville is going to Grace Inn Shelter and Shiloh House.

It began an ended at Maranatha Church on College Street West.

Another impressive event was held in Trenton, where the Coldest Night of the Year raised more than $41,000 for the Care and Share Food Bank.
