It was an exciting, milestone weekend in Lancer action.
For the first time in program history, the Lancers Women’s Basketball team went undefeated through regular season play and are Champions of the OCAA’s East Division.
As the 1st place team, they hosted the West’s 8th place, Redeemer Royals, in a qualifier matchup on Saturday Feb. 21st and won 75-55.
Local talent Grace Callahan put up 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win, continuing the dominance we’ve seen all season into the playoffs.
On the men’s side, the Lancers finished the regular season on a 7-game win streak pulling themselves into 5th place in the East with an 11-7 record.
They travelled to Sarnia to take on the West’s 4th place team, Lambton Lions, for their qualifier round on Sunday.
The Lancers played a great game and took down the Lions 80-74 to earn their way into the ¼ finals.
With wins in both cross-over qualifier games, for the first time in recent history, the women’s and men’s Lancer basketball teams will host a quarterfinal playoff game on home court.
The women’s team will host St. Clair Saints, Sunday, March 1st at 1 PM.
The men’s team will host Sheridan Bruins following the women’s game at 3 PM.
Admission to the games is free and open to the community. They are also streamed live through the Lancers YouTube channel or OCAA.com/live.
In Lancer volleyball action, the Men’s team lost their quarterfinal round to the Cambrian Shield in Sudbury on Sunday.
Despite aggressive,  electric play early on, the Lancers couldn’t hold back the 1st place Shield and fell 3-1.
Third year Lancer Liam Hill (Stratford, ON) was named OCAA East Division, 2nd Team All Star while rookie stand out Jacob Diefenbach (Maleny, AUS) was named to the East Division All-Rookie team and an East Division 2nd Team All-Star.
